Honda riders set the pace during the second stage of the 2025 Sertões Rally, held this Monday (July 28) between the cities of Unaí and Januária, in the state of Minas Gerais. Fastest of the day, Spanish rider Tosha Schareina, aboard the Honda CRF 450 Rally from the Monster Energy Honda HRC team, took the lead in both the overall standings and the Moto 1 category, according to unofficial results.

The second stage covered 416 kilometers, including 301 kilometers of timed special stages — the longest special of this year’s Sertões. The first 100 kilometers against the clock, which passed through farms and mountain ranges, featured high-speed sections. The second part of the route was more technical, with narrow sandy roads, lots of curves, and some trial-style sections.

Current Dakar rider-up and third in the World Rally-Raid Championship, Schareina pushed hard from the start to claim the lead among the motorcycles.

On day 2, with much faster tracks, Tosha didn't have as much dust as on the first day and managed to overtake the rider in front of him and lead the race yesterday. He is adapting well, as it is a very long and difficult race. Everything is different from what he is used to, but he is doing a good job.

“It was a good day. I started second, and up to the refueling point there was a lot of dust—it was hard to see. I managed to catch up to Martin, pushed to break away as much as I could, and built an advantage that gave me the stage win and the overall lead. But it’s only the second stage. There are still six more days of racing, so I need to stay alert. For stage three, I’ll try to increase my lead and really enjoy the special, since I’ll be starting first and will have the chance to avoid the dust. Let’s see how it goes.”
